Artificial Reef

The Bauan Reef Extension Project

This was initially launched last Aug2004 as 'Elbrus Climb for a Cause' project, primarily backed by Project AWARE foundation. The objective was to deploy reef modules (or 'reeflets') as artificial reef, planted near a healthy coral reef in Bauan (Greater 'Anilao') Area in Batangas. This will provide opportunity for marine life to thrive more in that area.

Opportunity:
Volunteers normally pledge a small amount to build a made-to-order reeflet (primarily made of cement), then may help in the actual underwater deployment. Volunteers doing underwater work should be a certified Open Water scuba diver. As of this posting, we only have less than 30 reeflets deployed, and we wish to at have at least 100 reeflets deployed by the end of 2007.
